About This Plate

Recognition Special Group

This plate identifies and recognizes those trained and certified as firefighters, and generates funds for the Firefighter Restricted Account. This account is directed by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and is used for the fire museum, training, and scholarships. This plate is available only to current full-time, part‐time, or retired firefighters. This plate may be personalized with up to 5 alphanumeric characters by submitting TC-817, Application for Personalized and Replacement License Plates with the required personalization fee.

Requirements

  • Any one of the following may be used:
    • Evidence indicating current membership in the Utah Firefighters’ Association.
    • An official identification card issued by a firefighting entity identifying the applicant as an employee or volunteer.
    • A letter on letterhead from a firefighting entity or from the county/municipality in which the firefighting entity is located, identifying the applicant as an employee, retired employee or volunteer of the firefighting entity.
  • $20.50 Special Plate Fee
  • $15 Initial Contribution
  • $15 Annual Contribution
  • $7.75 Postage and Handling

  • By mail – please submit a copy of your current registration, any documentation required for the special plate, a check that includes the cost of the special plate plus $7.75 for postage to:
