A registration renewal may be completed 60 days prior to expiration of the current registration, subject to the availability of renewal materials. The new registration period retains the same expiration month as the original registration, with few exceptions.
Go Paperless!
If you are still receiving post cards reminders that can get lost in the mail and want the DMV to start emailing your renewal reminder, you may sign up here.
Change of Address
If your address has changed, please first visit MVP (Motor Vehicle Portal), prior to renewing your vehicle online. Once you have updated your address, please wait 30 minutes before logging back into RenewalExpress to ensure that the update has taken place. Not only is updating your address important for ensuring your registration is mailed to the correct location, it also makes sure that the correct inspection requirements and fees are collected.
Ways to Renew Your Registration
You have several options for renewing your registration. Choose the option that is best for you!
Automatic Renewal
Never forget to renew your registration again! Sign up to have your registration renewal completed automatically. Once signed up, the DMV will email your notice of an upcoming registration renewal. The notice will alert you of any inspections that need to be completed and a time frame for completion. On the specified date, inspection requirements and payment will be verified. The DMV will email you a receipt and confirmation when your renewal is processed. Your decal and registration will be mailed to the address we have on file. For this process, you must provide bank account information to allow for automatic payment of registration renewal fees.
Sign up for automatic registration renewal on our MVP (Motor Vehicle Portal) or complete a TC-505 Automatic Registration Renewal Application and submit it to the DMV at the address provided on the form.
