Resident Students Living Out-of-State

Utah residents attending an educational institution outside of Utah may register their vehicle in Utah at their permanent Utah address. Emission inspection may be required. See this important information for additional information on emission inspections.

Resident Military Personnel Stationed Out-of-State

Utah residents currently serving in the military and stationed outside of Utah may register their vehicle in Utah at their permanent Utah address. Emission inspection may be required. See this important information for additional information on emission inspections.

Utah military personnel may qualify for an exemption from property tax/age-based fees when their vehicle is located with them out-of-state. The following documentation is required:

  • Military Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) – to verify resident state
  • Military Orders or documentation on military letterhead – to verify assignment location

Other Utah Residents Living Out-of-State
