Requesting MVED Records

General Information

The Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division (MVED) provides access to records in accordance with state regulations. Please note that certain records are classified as protected, and all criminal case information remains restricted.

Obtaining MVED Records

For immediate access to MVED licensed business information, use our "Search for a Business Feature" in the Enforcement section on Motor Vehicle Portal (MVP). The following details are available for online viewing:

  • Business Details: Legal name and business number.
  • License Status: Issue dates and expiration or suspension dates.
  • Contact Information: Associated phone numbers.
  • Individual Licensing: Information regarding individual licenses and persons associated with a business.

Requesting Protected or Specialized Records

If you require records not available on the portal—such as criminal case records or copies of prior applications—you must submit a formal request. To process this request, please provide:

  1. Form TC-861, Request for Motor Vehicle Enforcement Documents.
  2. Identification: A valid copy of your Government Issued ID.

Fees and Processing

Record request fees are assessed according to Utah Code §63G-2-203.

  • Cost: Fees vary; not all requests will result in a charge.
  • Payment: If a fee is applicable, we will provide an estimated cost. This fee must be paid in full before the request is fulfilled.

If you are looking for other information such as Criminal Case records or prior application copies, you must submit form TC-861, Request for Motor Vehicle Enforcement Documents and a copy of Government Issued ID.

The fees for requests are charged per Utah Code §63G-2-203. Not all requests will have fees. We will contact you with an estimated fee which must be paid before fulfilling your request.
