Utah Code §41-1a-1206 and others
Each vehicle owner must pay a registration fee at the time of initial registration and annually thereafter. A six month registration option is also available for motorcycles and passenger vehicles. The fees vary depending on vehicle type, registered weight, county, and other factors. Sales and use tax is imposed on the purchase of a vehicle or watercraft and is calculated using the purchase price. Purchase price should be listed on the title being transferred or on a bill of sale. To find out the current sales/use tax rate in your locality, see Utah Sales & Use Tax Rates.
Utah Code §41-1a-1204
The fee is $2.50 upon registration of each motor vehicle, except motorcycles and vehicles with a Purple Heart plate. The fee applies to the vehicle owner or operator. For information, contact the Driver License Division, 801-965-4437.
Utah Code §41-1a-1218
The fee is $1.00 per year, upon registration of each motor vehicle, except commercial vehicle registered as part of a fleet, vehicles owned or leased by the state or its subdivisions, and vehicles registered with a Purple Heart plate.
