Paper Titles

When you register for e-liens, you should keep your existing paper titles until the lien is satisfied and ready to be released. See Release a Lien. Paper titles can then be destroyed since a new title (with a new title number) will be issued.

If an original title is lost, you can request a duplicate by sending in a completed TC-123, Application For Utah Duplicate Title.

When sending a satisfied lien title to an insurance or salvage company, follow the Insurance Pay-off process.

Title Search

You can search for e-liens the day after you add them to your account through Title Search. Titles will be listed as long as your institution is the lienholder. You must keep all paper titles on file until the lien is satisfied and released. However, you can see all transactions from your e-lien account.
